Give it a shot

We live in the internet age, which means that we can ask a simple question and have "About 1,880,000 results" in 0.32 seconds, which also means that you’ve no reason to claim ignorance as an excuse for not attempting something new.

This thought was reinforced on a recent afternoon when my roommate and I were set to mix up a marinade for tofu steaks. But, having just moved into our new apartment and neglecting to see what kind of kitchen accessories we had, realized there were no measuring tools of any kind.

There was, however, a shot glass in the cupboard.

Thankfully, my roommate Dane (aka Ramble with a Plan) and I we were able to Google our way to a proper dinner. We learned that 1 shot glass is approximately 1.5 ounces and that there are 2 tablespoons in an ounce.

This is all the information we needed, we were set.

Throughout this process, a quote from Teddy Roosevelt came to mind:

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

With a little curiosity and a desire to learn, there is a lot that we can do with what we have; wherever we are. If you are stuck in a position with limited resources and an unclear direction, just consider what Teddy might have said if he were alive today:

Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are, and then Google it.
