This past week I volunteered to organize a product photo-shoot for our holiday campaign.
Immediately after I thought to myself, “Whoa. Did I really just do that?” and my heart started to beat a little faster.
Luckily, I had two wonderful people willing to help me out. With some random lighting gear, a ping-pong table, and ping-pong paddles to hold our white background down, we set the stage for our photo-shoot. Who knew that an unlikely team made up of an engineer, videographer and field manager could make bags of Skoop look this good?
I’d like to share a bit of what I learned:
- History– Skoop’s office and warehouse used to be the home of Justin’s Nut Butter. Now they are our neighbors two doors down!
- Magic– A ball of tape works wonders when it comes to propping things up.
- Culture– In the biz, you say “striking!” when turning lights on and off.
- Subtleties– Although you can use the same camera, there’s quite a difference between photography and videography. “Photography is capturing a moment, videography is capturing moments.”
- Teamwork– Creating together from multiple perspectives results in work even better than originally imagined.
- Transformation– A warehouse is usually thought of as just that, but the space can change into anything we want it to be. Most importantly, we too can transform and grow to gain experiences we never thought possible in the most unlikely of places. All we have to do is dive in.
